Wearable Sensor Company Zepp Labs Signs Several Endorsers, Including Ortiz, Trout

Santa Clara-based Zepp Labs, which makes wearable sensors for baseball, golf and tennis, has signed a large group of MLBers and pro golfers as part of a broad effort to push consumer awareness of its rebuilt and expanded platform for performance tracking. Newly signed endorsers and content contributors for Zepp sensors include Red Sox DH David Ortiz, Angels CF Mike Trout, Giants RF Hunter Pence, Marlins RF Giancarlo Stanton, Astros 2B Jose Altuve and RF George Springer, Rays RF Wil Myers and A’s 3B Josh Donaldson. The company also has signed similar alignments with golfers Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele, long drive champion Ryan Winther, and Gold Medal-winning softball P Jennie Finch. The athletes will form a key element of a new content offering that will allow users of the Zepp sensor to pair their own swings with video analysis and compare their results with those of the pros. Zepp sensors measure a variety of swing data, including angle, hand speed and reaction time. Content will be available through newly redesigned Zepp mobile apps. “This is a very critical step for us to take what these sensors do to another level and really bring in a big new dimension to this,” said Zepp Labs CEO Jason Fass. The Zepp platform expansion also includes a free, video-based option in which users can do swing comparisons without the use of a Zepp sensor. Because of the number of MLBers involved, Zepp signed a group license with the MLBPA and is now an official licensee with the union. Tennis functionality for the new Zepp platform will be added shortly. See the full sports business portfolio for Zepp Labs at Resource Guide LIVE.
