Bowling Green Signs Deal To Switch From Adidas Apparel To Nike In All Sports

Bowling Green State Univ. has signed a deal to "switch from Adidas apparel to Nike apparel" for all of its athletic teams, according to John Wagner of the TOLEDO BLADE. The move will "not be immediate because athletic departments purchase equipment, especially uniforms, well in advance of the season." The BGSU men's and women's basketball teams "will be wearing Adidas uniforms, although they will be playing with Nike basketballs." BGSU AD Chris Kingston said, "The agreement has not been fully executed, but I would expect by the spring sports season we will have teams wearing a 'swoosh' on their uniforms. ... By the fall of 2015, our teams will be wearing 100 percent new Nike (gear)." Wagner noted since Nike is an NFL and Browns sponsor, a "by-product of the agreement will be greater opportunity to produce uniforms that feature orange and brown." Kingston did not give a financial value to the deal. However, he said, "This is a deal that will be two times more lucrative than the deal with out previous supplier" (TOLEDO BLADE, 9/8).
