TWO-YEAR PLAN: In Rochester, Kevin Oklobzija notes SMG will “continue to manage the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester Community War Memorial for the next two years if City Council approves a proposed amendment to extend the current contract.” Under the proposal submitted to council members by Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, the city will “give up its share of food and beverage revenue for the next two years.” The Sabres had “expressed interest in co-managing the facility with SMG.” That plan “has been tabled while the city determines what renovations and/or upgrades, if any, are needed” (ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT & CHRONICLE, 9/9).

HOME, SWEET HOME: In Winnipeg, Ed Tait noted CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon has “one more doozy he’d like to get done before stepping aside next spring: get the Toronto Argonauts comfortably set up at BMO Field.” After conversations with MLSE, Cohon and the CFL are “trying to come up with an additional” $20M to “help pay for a football-friendly expansion to the facility” (WINNIPEG FREE PRESS, 9/8).
