Rutgers Removing Rice From In-Game Video, On-Campus Images May Follow

Rutgers school officials said that Ray Rice, an alum, will be "removed from the in-game video show that celebrates all of the former Rutgers players currently playing in the NFL," according to Tara Sullivan of the Bergen RECORD. Rutgers had "no other concrete details about removing Rice’s image around campus, where photos of him are hung on press-box walls and in the locker room, and he is included on banners of former Rutgers players hanging near the entrance of High Point Solutions Stadium." However, sources indicated that the school is "reviewing what to do with the photos and memorabilia on campus" (Bergen RECORD, 9/9). Rutgers Senior Dir of Digital Media Tom Luicci said, "We update the 'Knights in the NFL' weekly to reflect active players in the league." Luicci added of a montage at RU's High point Solutions Stadium, "That is also updated weekly to reflect active players." ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy noted Luicci "would not comment if pictures of Rice would be removed throughout the Knights' football facility." However, Rice's school records "will not be removed from RU's record books or media guides" (ESPN.com, 9/8).
