Washington State To Open Store In Spokane For Gear, Tickets, Alumni Relations

Washington State is "opening a downtown Spokane store that will be a one-stop shop for fans and alumni," according to Jody Lawrence-Turner of the Spokane SPOKESMAN-REVIEW. The outlet will be the "first of its kind" for the school. While school stores in Seattle and Everett "offer WSU gear of all kinds, Spokane’s is the first location that combines gear, a ticket office, WSU Spokane research information, and donor and alumni relations." WSU Associate AD Bill Stevens said since the arrival of AD Bill Moos in '10, Spokane has become a "focal point for what we do.” Stevens: "We need that whole area to be a focus. The fans in Spokane are vital to our success.” Lawrence-Turner notes the school signed a 10-year lease "at an annual cost starting at $122,130 for the store." There is not a "firm opening date" for the store, but school officials "hope to open the doors by the first home football game on Sept. 13" (Spokane SPOKESMAN-REVIEW, 8/6).
