Overnight Ratings: WGC-Bridgestone Lower On CBS After Woods' Win In '13

CBS earned a 3.0 overnight rating for the final of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational yesterday, which saw Rory McIlroy hold off Sergio Garcia by two strokes. That figure is down 23% from last year’s final round, which saw Tiger Woods win the event by seven strokes. Woods was forced to withdraw on Sunday after eight holes due to back pain.

JUST FOR KICKS: Fox drew a 0.6 overnight for Manchester United-Real Madrid on Saturday from 4:00-6:00pm ET, which was part of the Guinness Int’l Champions Cup event. The exhibition outdrew the audience for NBC’s Galaxy-Timbers regular-season matchup, which drew a 0.3 overnight from 2:30-5:00pm.

NOTES: ESPN drew a 2.8 overnight for yesterday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Pocono Raceway, down slightly from a 2.9 overnight last year. ESPN also drew a 0.9 overnight for the USA Basketball exhibition on Friday night, which saw Pacers F Paul George suffer a likely season-ending injury, and a 1.7 overnight for Yankees-Red Sox on “Sunday Night Baseball.”
