Hyperice Seeing Success With Kickstarter Campaign For "Vyper" Vibration-Enabled Rollers

California-based recovery technology company Hyperice is two-weeks into a "45 day Kickstarter campaign" for a "vibration-enabled foam roller" called Vyper, and the company has already raised more than $84,000 of its $100,000 goal, according to Michael Carney of PANDO.com. Product backers can pay $249 for the roller and they will have the opportunity to receive "limited edition units in the team colors" of Hyperice's athlete endorsers: Clippers F Blake Griffin, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, Steelers S Troy Polamalu and U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn. Delivery is "projected" for November '14, a date which Hyperice Founder Anthony Katz believes is "eminently achievable given the current state of the product." However, Katz concedes that there is "always a small chance of delays in manufacturing." Hyperice plans to begin "direct consumer sales through its website, and later through third-party retail immediately after delivering its Kickstarter commitments in full." The retail price of Vyper will be $199 initially, and potentially $179 at scale, making it one of the "rare instances in which Kickstarter backers will pay the full retail price for early access to a product rather than get it at a steep discount" (PANDO.com, 7/28).
