49ers Unveil Levi's Stadium Cuisine, With Particular Focus On Higher-End Fare

The 49ers, concessionaire Centerplate and the team's culinary partners yesterday unveiled Levi's Stadium's concession menu, "highlighting both sports staples like burgers and wilder fare such as rotisserie chicken mac and cheese," according to Mike Rosenberg of the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS. Prices "will be announced in the coming weeks." The menu "was developed by professional chefs over the last three and a half years who toured other NFL stadiums." 49ers President Paraag Marathe: "We don't want it to be compared to stadium food." Centerplate expects that about three-fourths of the items it sells will "be a handful of staples: burgers, pizza, garlic fries, chicken and hot dogs -- sorry, the frankfurter." The word hot dog, in the "boldest display of the 49ers' fine-dining hopes, does not appear anywhere on the Levi's Stadium concessions." But the most popular item is "expected to be pizza." The concessions "are separate from celebrity chef Michael Mina's $5,000-a-season VIP tailgate package at the stadium." There will be one register for every 86 fans -- "three times better" than Candlestick Park. The team yesterday also began selling 90-minute tours of the stadium at a cost of $25 or $35, which includes "a trip to the on-site museum" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 7/10).

TALKIN' 'BOUT PRACTICE: The 49ers yesterday announced that they "will hold three open practices" at Levi's Stadium during training camp. CSNBAYAREA.com's Matt Maiocco noted fans "can enter an online random drawing for the opportunity to receive free tickets to attend." Santa Clara residents "will have an opportunity to attend practice on Aug. 15." The 49ers said that attendance at the practices "will be limited to 10,000 fans" (CSNBAYAREA.com, 7/9).
