120 Sports Digital Network Set For Debut, With Geico, Nissan Among Launch Partners

120 Sports, the digital streaming network involving SI, Silver Chalice, the NHL and MLBAM, will debut tomorrow after several months of planning and development. The service, first announced in February, will be a video-driven digital network with content distilled into two-minute segments. 120 Sports will be an ad-supported venture, with a premium-level content offering planned for next year. Michael Kim and former NFLers Bryant McFadden and Ovie Mughelli will host the new digital network. 120 Sports has signed deals with Geico, Nissan, Transamerica and Verizon to serve as official launch partners. The company said branded messaging for each partner will be “organically integrated” into the short-form video programming (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer). In Chicago, Robert Channick notes 120 Sports is “operating from a custom-designed 17,000 square foot facility” at Harpo Studios, the TV complex formerly owned by Oprah Winfrey. The service will be “available on a wide range of mobile devices” and “won't require authentication." Company execs said that studio programming will be “live each evening, with video segments available on demand throughout the day” (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/24).
