NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship At M&T Bank Stadium Draws Smallest Crowd Since '03

Duke topped Notre Dame 11-9 in yesterday's NCAA men's lacrosse championship "before an announced 25,587 at M&T Bank Stadium," according to Edward Lee of the Baltimore SUN. The announced attendance for the final "was the smallest since the game was moved to NFL stadiums" in '03 (Baltimore SUN, 5/27). In Baltimore, Ryan Sharrow noted the men's D-I, D-II and D-III championships in total "drew 78,234, falling short of a crowd of 79,179 that attended last year's event in Philadelphia." Baltimore "holds the attendance record for the championships" at 123,225 in '07 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/26). Also in Baltimore, Katherine Dunn noted Sunday's D-I women's lacrosse championship, which saw Maryland top Syracuse, was played "before an announced title-game record crowd of 10,311 at Towson's Johnny Unitas Stadium" (Baltimore SUN, 5/26).
