Kerr Says Presence Of Rick Welts Was "Huge" In Decision To Take Warriors Job

New Warriors coach Steve Kerr said the "presence" of Warriors President & COO Rick Welts "was huge" in choosing to join the organization. Kerr, appearing live on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area's "Yahoo Sports Talk Live" on Wednesday, said, "Having been a general manager in Phoenix and worked alongside Rick, I understood the importance of the strength of the business side of the organization. It translates to the floor.” Kerr added, “But when the business side of the operation is humming, when you've got your season-ticket holder base way up, when you've got your sponsorship money up, when you've got your TV deal at a good level, now you've got the resources, you've got the momentum and you've got just kind of something special that you can feel happening and it translates both ways and I can sense that this was a franchise on the rise. And I wanted to be a part of that” ("Yahoo Sports Talk Live," CSN Bay Area, 5/20).
