AFL Predators Deny League Takeover, Could Have New Ownership By Week's End

The AFL Predators are going through an ownership change for the “second time in as many seasons” as Majority Owner David Pearsall, who took over after Brett Bouchy stepped down last July, is “no longer with the team,” according to Alicia DelGallo of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. Predators coach Rob Keefe denied a report that the team was taken over by the league and said that the AFL is “facilitating the transition to a new ownership group, which could take place as early as this week.” Keefe said, "We have new ownership groups who are very well-financed and very interested in taking the Orlando Predators to the pinnacle of what arena football should be." Keefe is "confident the new owners will keep" the Predators in Central Florida. Several front-office employees who worked under Pearsall "also have left the company," including former COO Scot O’Farrell. Financial questions have "surrounded the team since the city declared the Predators in default of their lease with Amway Center in September, citing low attendance figures" (ORLANDOSENTINEL.com, 5/13).
