Arizona State Univ. named Cowboys Senior VP/Sales & Marketing GREG MCELROY Chief Business Development Officer for Sun Devil Athletics. McElroy, who had been with the NFL club since ’06, “negotiated the Cowboys stadium naming rights deal with AT&T” and was previously Dodgers Chief Sales Officer (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/12). McElroy “will be responsible for revenue growth and marketing plans” at ASU, including “naming rights for Sun Devil Stadium,” which is in the early stage of reconstruction. McElroy also “sold naming rights” for the MLB Rangers ballpark and “with the group operating American Airlines Center.” His time with the Dodgers “included renovation of Dodger Stadium” (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 5/13).

EXECS: The Online Publishers Association named former CBSSports.com Senior VP & GM JASON KINT CEO, beginning May 27. Kint, who left CBS last July after six years, replaces PAM HORAN, who had served in the top role since ’06. The OPA “has about 65 members,” including ESPN, USA Today and the N.Y. Times (ADWEEK.com, 5/12)….The CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders gave President & CEO JIM HOPSON a one-year extension through ’15 (Roughriders)….Youngstown State Univ. named Univ. of Akron Exec VP/Student Success and former Ohio State Univ. football coach JIM TRESSEL President “after the board came to easy agreement over his compensation.” Tressel “was offered the same salary as his predecessor -- $375,000 a year for three years -- but turned it down because he wanted less in his first two years” (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 5/13).
