Overnight Ratings: Lack Of Woods Leads To Big Drop For Players Championship

NBC averaged a 2.6 overnight rating yesterday from 2:00-8:15pm ET for Martin Kaymer's one-shot win in the final-round of The Players Championship, down 54% from a 5.7 in '13, which saw Tiger Woods win by two shots over a trio of players. Woods did not play in this year's event, and yesterday's final round was delayed 90 minutes due to inclement weather.

ZOOM-ZOOM: ABC on Saturday averaged a 0.9 overnight for its coverage of the inaugural Verizon IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Indianapolis. Meanwhile, Fox on Saturday night from 8:30-11:30pm averaged a 3.3 overnight for its coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 5-Hour Energy 400 at Kansas Speedway, the first time the track had a race in primetime.

NOTES: ESPN averaged a 1.0 overnight rating for its Cardinals-Pirates "Sunday Night Baseball" telecast last night, down 17% from a 1.2 overnight for the comparable Angels-White Sox game in '13. The game from 8:00-11:45pm marked the first "SNB" matchup in Pittsburgh in 18 years....NBC yesterday garnered a 0.7 overnight from 10:00am-12:45pm for the Manchester City-West Ham United EPL title-clinching match, which saw Man City win its second league championship in the last three years.
