Manulife Signs On For At Least Two More Years As Title Sponsor Of LPGA Event

Manulife yesterday announced that it will continue as title sponsor of the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic for at least two more years. Since becoming title sponsor of one of only two Canadian LPGA stops in '12, Manulife has worked with the LPGA and tournament owner, Sports Properties Int'l, to improve the tournament in a number of areas (Manulife). In Ontario, Mark Bryson reports the location for the '15 and '16 events "has yet to be decided," but the Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, Ontario, which hosted a media gathering on Monday, and the Whistle Bear Golf Club in North Dumfries, are the "likeliest destinations." Sports Properties Int'l President Jack Swift said that negotiations with the two courses "are ongoing." Meanwhile, Manulife recently "strengthened its LPGA presence" by agreeing to multiyear partnerships with golfers Stacy Lewis and Jennifer Kirby. Kirby said that Manulife is a "popular event for LPGA players" (WATERLOO RECORD, 5/6).
