In N.Y., Mark Cannizzaro profiles NFL Giants Senior VP/Player Personnel CHRIS MARA, who is "part of a small syndicate" that owns Intense Holiday, a horse that is currently "hovering around 20-1 to win" the Kentucky Derby. This will be the 10th Derby that Mara has attended, "but the first at which he will own one of the competing horses." Mara said, "This has been much tougher for me than the Super Bowls, because in football at least you played the previous Sunday. With this, you wait and wait and wait" (N.Y. POST, 4/30).

MISSOURI COMPROMISE: New Missouri men's basketball coach KIM ANDERSON "will make at least" $1.1M per season on a five-year contract. MU AD MIKE ALDEN noted that Anderson's "base salary will be $300,000 a year with an additional $800,000 in guaranteed money." Anderson also will "receive $100,000 per year in deferred money and heavy incentives that could push" his salary above $2M to a maximum of $2.4M a year (K.C. STAR, 4/29).
