Facility Notes

In Sacramento, Dale Kasler reported city officials today "plan to release an update" on their negotiations with the NBA Kings over the planned $448M arena at Downtown Plaza. Sacramento Assistant City Manager John Danberg said that staffers "will unveil a report spelling out the basics of the development agreement that’s being hashed out with the Kings." He added that the agreement "is still based on the nonbinding March 2013 'term sheet' approved by the City Council, but some changes have been made." It is "anticipated that the final agreement will be released May 1." The council "is scheduled to vote on the plan May 13, setting the stage for groundbreaking late this summer or early fall" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 4/20).

THROW IT ON THE TAB: In St. Paul, Doug Belden notes the Vikings "are putting another" $1.2M into their stadium project "for video-related changes the team wanted," bringing the cost to $976.2M. The changes "are related to increasing the size of the west end video board and improving video capability in some of the club areas." Officials said that overall, construction on the stadium, "scheduled to open" in '16, is about 7% complete (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 4/18).

CRISP CLUBHOUSE: In South Carolina, Dan Burley noted this year's RBC Heritage was the last for Harbour Town Golf Links' clubhouse, which "is being replaced as part of an ongoing effort by Sea Pines Resort to update its facilities." In its place "will rise" a $20M-plus, "three-story building with an art gallery, a restaurant, and men's and women's locker rooms for tournament players and members of the public, among other features." Officials said that the current 11,000-square-foot clubhouse, which opened in '69, the year the RBC Heritage began, "has one of the smaller locker rooms on the PGA Tour." The replacement is "scheduled to be completed by next year's tournament" (Hilton Head ISLAND PACKET, 4/21).
