MLB Rangers To Alter Globe Life's Title-Sponsor Signage After Fans Log Complaints

The MLB Rangers and Globe Life Insurance recently "agreed to come up with a better-looking sign" for Globe Life Park after receiving a complaint letter from a local resident, according to Bud Kennedy of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. As part of the company's ballpark naming-rights deal, an "ice-blue Globe Life Park sign" replaced the old Rangers logo. A Facebook post on an "Arlington Proud" page "drew more than 40,000 readers and 743 comments, mostly complaints about the 10-year naming agreement but also some about how Globe Life’s contemporary logo didn't fit the ballpark's green-and-brick throwback look." Torchmark VP/Investor Relations Mike Majors, whose firm is a subsidiary of Globe Life, said, "Once we took a look at it and thought about it, we said, 'They're right.'" Majors and Rangers Exec VP/Communications John Blake said that the new sign "will be green and will respect the park's historical architecture." Blake: "All the other signage fits in. That sign was rushed. We're going to work on a better one." Leanne Rand, who authored the original complaint letter, responded, "I am so grateful that they took our concerns seriously" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 4/13).
