Patriot Place Expansion Underway As Kraft Group Proposes Multiple Construction Projects

Plans are "underway for more expansion at Patriot Place, including the construction of a second hotel" adjacent to the shopping area, according to Paul Kenyon of the PROVIDENCE JOURNAL. The new hotel was "part of a proposal submitted by the Kraft Group, which runs the facility, to the Foxboro planning board some time ago." That proposal also included "what was described as a quick-serve restaurant and a retail store near the complex’s North Marketplace." In addition, the Patriots have "filed a request with the town for construction of a 25,000-square-foot, two-story office complex adjacent to the east side" of Gillette Stadium. The plan is to "consolidate all football operations in one area." As it now stands, there are "offices in a number of different sections of the stadium." Another proposal made by the Patriots is to "build what would be a permanent freestanding facility -- the team describes it as a pavilion -- in front of the stadium." Still another proposal is to "expand the suites on the stadium’s west side, add two elevators to bring the total at the stadium to 12 and expand pedestrian canopies that cover some of the shopping areas at Patriot Place." It is expected that an "official proposal, including architectural drawings, will be submitted to Foxboro officials within the next month or so" (PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, 3/25).
