Medal Stand: Women's Ski Jumping A Welcome Sight After Nearly A Century

Each day during the Winter Games, THE DAILY offers our take on the business performances of some of the people, sponsors, broadcasters and other entities around Sochi.

GOLD: WOMEN'S SKI JUMPING -- There are several new additions to the Winter Olympic program in Sochi -- 12 sports make their debuts in all -- but after 90 years of having men reach for the sky during the Games, it is nice to finally offer equality in ski jumping.

SILVER: PROCTER & GAMBLE -- P&G's "Thank You, Mom" campaign once again has created some of the most memorable -- and emotional -- spots on television.

BRONZE: JULIA MANCUSO -- The four-time Olympian once again rose to the occasion at the Games, solidifying her spot as the most decorated female U.S. Olympic skier in history with a bronze medal in the super combined on Monday, her fourth medal overall.

TIN: ROSA KHUTOR EXTREME PARK -- Where to begin? First, FIS, the IOC and SOCOG named the location of the slopestyle and halfpipe courses the "extreme park," a term that makes snowboarders, skiers, skaters and the like cringe. Then they built a slopestyle course that was criticized for being too dangerous and a halfpipe that was described by snowboarder Danny Davis as a "turd." If you are going to recruit sports to boost youth interest and TV ratings, at least do it right.
