SI Picks Kimmel Instead Of Letterman For Swimsuit Issue Cover Reveal

SI late yesterday announced it will reveal the cover of its '14 Swimsuit issue Thursday night on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live." The plan represents a shift after SI revealed the cover on CBS' "Late Show" the last six years. The event has never been done on Kimmel's show. This year's Swimsuit issue, set for newsstand and digital release on Feb. 18, will be the 50th anniversary edition and will arrive with a large sweep of promotional and media events, including a TV special that aired on NBC (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer). The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Philiana Ng noted the "Late Show" is "not filming any new episodes this week" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 2/10). In N.Y., Alex Weprin cites a source as saying that SI is "always evaluating its options when it comes to the swimsuit reveal, and that this year Kimmel was the best fit." A source said that Kimmel's "younger-skewing demographics are a strong reason for making the switch" (CAPTIALNEWYORK.com, 2/11).
