T'Wolves Raise Season-Ticket Prices, Restoring Much Of Steep Price Cut Four Years Ago

The T'Wolves after "drastically discounting season-ticket prices four years ago" will "raise prices again in 2014-15, the second straight increase for the team," according to Andy Greder of the ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS. The cost of premium seats "will go up only a few dollars, but the price of Target Center's lowest-priced seating will rise" about 40%. With improved play this season, the T'Wolves average season-ticket prices next season "will return to near the pre-discounted rates." The increase will be about 3% "for a premium seat near the court, from an average of $213 to $219." The increase for seats near the concourses will be about 17%, "from an average of $29 to $35 and $20 to $24 for the two groups." Season tickets "will cost from about $300 to more than $9,000." The T'Wolves have "worked to build back the number of season-ticket holders after it hit a high of nearly 10,000" in the '03-04 season, the last season the team made the playoffs. In '09-10, there were "about 4,000 season-ticket holders, and with deep discounts the team said it was able to retain" about 80%. The season-ticket base rose to 7,500 in '11-12 and 9,000 last season. Howver, after "increases in rates," the number of season-ticket holders "fell to about 7,500" for the current season (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 1/31). In Minneapolis, John Vomhof Jr. noted T'Wolves season tickets despite the increased prices "will remain cheaper than five years ago." The team "will still have more seats priced at or below $11 than all of the other 29 NBA teams combined" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 1/31).
