Source: Jordan Brand's Larry Miller Declines To Discuss NBPA Exec Director Position

Jordan Brand President Larry Miller "politely declined" to discuss the NBPA's vacant Exec Dir position after union officials reached out to "gauge his interest," according to a source cited by Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com. Miller said he is "extremely happy in his current role" with the shoe and apparel brand. Clippers G and NBPA President Chris Paul is a Jordan Brand endorser, and a source said that Paul was a "big proponent of seeking out Miller" (CSNNW.com, 1/11). NBCSPORTS.com's Dan Feldman wrote for that to have worked, Miller would have had to "put aside his allegiance to Nike." The NBPA, with "differing opinions" on former Exec Dir Billy Hunter and former President Derek Fisher, has "experienced too much fragmentation recently." Drawing lines "based on shoes could create new problems." Members should "at least be wary of Paul pushing in an executive director whose professional interests intersect Paul's in a way that has nothing to do with the union on the whole" (NBCSPORTS.com, 1/13).
