Sporting News Releasing New App For Apple IOS Operating Systems

Sporting News Media has released a new mobile app for the Apple iOS operating system, marking a significant retooling of its wireless content efforts and a further shift of the company's business model toward mobile. The new Sporting News app incorporates a curated news feed featuring both Sporting News content and material from other outlets, personalized TV listings, top tweets from around the sports landscape, scores and stats, magazine-style daily content inspired in part by Flipboard, and game highlights licensed by parent company Perform. The free, ad-supported app will be exclusively on the iOS platform for two months, supported by a marketing push from Apple, before expanding to the Android platform. N.Y.-based digital agency Omnigon Communications aided with portions of the app development. "Our prior efforts in mobile have had a lot of success, but our latest product was nearly two years old and there was a need for an update and continued innovation," said Sporting News Media CEO Juan Delgado "We're looking to really make this a substantial part of the business as eyeballs and ad dollars shift to mobile." American City Business Journals, the parent company of SportsBusiness Journal and The Daily, is a partner in Sporting News Media.
