Anniversary Gift: NFL Net Sees Fifth Straight Season Of Record Game Viewership

NFL Network, which marked its 10th anniversary on air this year, has its highest average audience totals for its package of regular-season games since the net began airing live games in '06. NFL Net’s 13 games (excluding the unscheduled Chargers-Raiders broadcast on Sunday, Oct. 6) averaged a 4.4 final rating and 7.055 million viewers (excludes over-the-air figures), up 10% and 11%, respectively, from the previous record set last season. This season, which was the second of an expanded regular-season schedule for NFL Net, also marked the fifth straight year the channel has set a new viewership record. The Sept. 19 Chiefs-Eagles game, which marked Chiefs coach Andy Reid's return to Philadelphia, drew 9.4 million viewers, marking the top “Thursday Night Football” audience this season and fourth-best since the net began airing games. NFL Net also saw four of its top 10 game audiences this season.
