TRIED BUT TRUE: In Denver, Mike Klis wrote of Manning's rank, "I’m a tad surprised because his jersey has been in circulation for two years." But as Grffin's "star drastically dimmed and with little sex appeal in this year’s rookie class, the trusted Manning remains on top." Klis noted Broncos LB Von Miller "fell off the list," as there was "some backlash to his season-opening six-game suspension" (DENVERPOST.com, 12/11). ESPN's Stan Verrett noted Griffin dropped to ninth after being the top-seller in '12. Verrett noted Patriots QB Tom Brady was "in the top five" and then asked, "Doesn’t everybody in New England already have a Tom Brady jersey? Or is he just so good it's like, 'I've got to get a new Tom Brady jersey because the old one's old'" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 12/12).
