AD AGE's Beth Snyder Bulik noted jewelry ads on football telecasts "are big business, especially around the holidays." Data from Kantar media showed that combined TV spending for Jared, Kay Jewelers and Zales during NFL programming was $42M in November and December last year, "up 4% from 2011." Spending in the category this year is "expected to be even better thanks to a confluence of factors: easing of the recession, more women watching football and more weddings planned for 2014" (ADAGE.com, 12/9).

MELO GOLD: Rapper 50 Cent's SMS Audio yesterday announced that Knicks F Carmelo Anthony has joined the company as an investor/partner and advisor, and will represent SMS as an endorser (SMS).

DATA STREAM: In Ohio, Joe Cogliano notes Dayton-based data analytics company The Perduco Group has recently "landed jobs" with the Warriors and fantasy football site FFToolbox.com. Perduco Group co-Founder & VP Stephen Chambal said that the Warriors hired his firm "to develop a scheduling optimization tool used by the team's scouts" (DAYTON BUSINESS JOURNAL, 12/6 issue).
