T'Wolves Hold Contest For Free Suite At Target Center For Rest Of Season

The T'Wolves will "host a game-show style contest to give away a free suite" for the remainder of the '13-14 season, according to John Vomhof Jr. of the MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL BUSINESS JOURNAL. T'Wolves officials this week are "hand-delivering invitations to more than 100 of the largest public and private companies in Minnesota for a 'Sweet Suite' event at Target Center on Nov. 20 that will include dinner and drinks, along with the chance to win the suite." Any company present at the event "will receive a key, one of which will unlock the door to a suite." The winner will "get access to the suite for the rest of the season, including 12 tickets and two parking passes for each game." However, stocking the space "with food and beverage would cost extra." T'Wolves VP/Sales & Service Corey Breton said, "We're trying to break through the clutter and get everyone in one room at the same time." The T'Wolves reserve 15 of Target Center's 68 suites "for single-game rentals" (MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL BUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/8 issue).

HEY LADIES: BLEACHER REPORT's Grant Hughes noted the T'Wolves are running a "Ladies' Night Out" promotional package that includes "a game ticket, an adult beverage and a DVD" of the first season of "Girls" for $18. The T'Wolves used "this same package to attract female clientele to the Target Center last season" (BLEACHERREPORT.com, 11/7). ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY's Jennifer Arellanoon wrote, "Should we be insulted or encouraged that the Minnesota Timberwolves think they’re appealing to (or pigeonholing) women’s TV tastes with a specific female foursome show conveniently called 'Girls'?" There is "something about the promotion that reeks of a failure to understand female sports fans" (EW.com, 11/8).
