Source: Arizona State's Steve Patterson Not Interested In Texas AD Job

Arizona State VP/Athletics & AD Steve Patterson "recently met with Texas officials" about replacing retiring men's AD DeLoss Dodds, but "told them he is not interested in the position," according to a source cited by Jeff Metcalfe of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Patterson "attended Texas as an undergraduate and for law school," and also worked for the Rockets and Texans (AZCENTRAL.com, 10/30). In Austin, Kirk Bohls cites a source as saying that West Virginia AD Oliver Luck will be "one of at least three candidates to have an official interview." The source said that interviews will "begin this weekend ... and will be conducted by the eight-member advisory group" appointed by Texas President Bill Powers a few weeks ago. Another source said that Arkansas AD Jeff Long "might be among those interviewed, though a close friend of Long’s said he would be 'very surprised' if Long were interested in leaving Arkansas" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 10/31).
