USA Basketball "plans to relocate to Tempe" as part of an Arizona State Univ. development project, according to sources cited by Metcalfe & Ryman of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Sources said that USA Basketball, currently located in Colorado Springs, is "expected to announce its plan soon to be part of a 10-acre project adjacent to the ASU campus." ASU's plan in partnership with the city of Tempe is to "build a hotel and conference center and other development on university-owned land." The project is "separate from ASU's planned athletic facilities district." This marks the second time that USA Basketball has "chosen to relocate to the Valley." A plan to move to Glendale in '08, with a private developer building a $53.8M training campus "fell through because the developer could not complete financing during the economic downturn." The timetable for USA Basketball's relocation "is unclear." The senior national teams "could continue to train elsewhere," as the men's team trained in Las Vegas leading up to the '12 London Games (
