Media Notes

The GLOBE & MAIL’s Bruce Dowbiggin wrote the “rivalry” between Rogers' Sportsnet and Bell Media's TSN has “reached Crips vs Bloods stage.” When TSN “fumbled the Jarome Iginla trade last week, some Sportsnet people gloated on air.” When Sportsnet “failed to go live with the late-night Jay Feaster presser TSN reminded everyone that they had broken into live programming with the dramatic scene” (THEGLOBEANDMAIL.com, 4/1).

AMEN TO THAT: CBSSports.com will revive its digital coverage of The Masters next week with live streaming of Amen Corner, holes No. 15 and 16 and a featured group each day as they play holes No. 10-18. The Masters Live streaming will be supplemented by a fourth channel for "Masters On the Range," a daily live show with analysis and player interviews. A live weekend recap show, tournament highlights, historical highlights on demand, and other content also is planned. In total, CBSSports.com plans more than 90 hours of live online tournament coverage. All content will be free and supported by a set of as-yet-undisclosed advertisers (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).

SET YOU DVR: BROADCASTING & CABLE’s Andrea Morabito writes Discovery’s “upscale male-focused network” Velocity will air a “car culture series with racing stars Jeff Gordon and Ray Evernham to premiere next January.” The show will be called “Americarna” (BROADCASTING & CABLE, 4/1 issue)....In DC, Lisa de Moraes noted NatGeo “will try to cash in” on the Lance Armstrong scandal with the premiere of “Cycling High: Doping to Win.” The show is “produced by NBC/Universal operation Peacock Productions,” and will premiere April 21 “featuring infographics, re-creations, archival footage and new interviews -- but not with Armstrong” (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 4/1).
