Bridgestone Arena Gets Nashville Council's Approval For $110M In Improvements
The Nashville Metropolitan Council yesterday approved a $110M capital plan for "major exterior upgrades" to the south side of Bridgestone Arena, according to Joey Garrison of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. New retail shops and restaurants will "anchor a second stadium entrance," part of $7M in renovations to the arena's "underutilized back side." New indoor and outdoor plaza areas and glass will "replace portions of existing concrete." Predators President & COO Sean Henry has said that the upgrades "include 3,000 to 6,000 square feet of retail space that opens to outside visitors." City of Nashville Finance Dir Rich Riebeling "hopes the upgrades will be complete by the start of the 2013-14 hockey season" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 2/6).
