Competitor Group Bringing Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon To S.F. In Spring '13

Competitor Group yesterday announced a partnership with Project Sport to bring the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series to S.F. The inaugural Rock 'n' Roll S.F. Half Marathon is set for Sunday, April 7, 2013, rebranding the U.S. Half Marathon 2 "The Other Half," which has been held each spring since '10 (Competitor Group). In S.F., John Cote noted the marathon includes bands "playing at regular intervals and a course that runs across the Golden Gate Bridge." The race will not "displace Bay to Breakers any time soon as this city’s favorite party on sneakers." But Bay Area runners "looking for a little power-chord pick-me-up on the course previously either had to turn to their iPod, or go to San Jose." S.F. will be "among 33 metropolises around the world hosting a Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series race in 2013" (SFGATE.com, 10/23).
