Del Mar Looks For Another Record Opening Day Attendance To Start 75th Season

Del Mar Racetrack will open the gates for the venue's 75th anniversary season today, and Opening Day attendance has increased at the track for the last seven seasons. Last year saw an all-time record of 46,588 patrons on Opening Day, the third straight year an opening-day record had been set. For the 37 days of racing last summer, the track averaged 17,844 fans, down slightly from 17,906 in '10, but still marking the second-best figure since the late '80s. The charts below list a trend for opening day attendance at Del Mar, as well a trend for attendance over the complete summer meet (THE DAILY).
