Lagardere Unlimited Expands Presence Into Hockey, Terry Bross Certified By NHLPA

Lagardere Unlimited has expanded its athlete representation practice to hockey, announcing over the weekend that MLB player agent Terry Bross has been certified by the NHLPA and is now representing Coyotes RW Shane Doan, who became a free agent yesterday. Doan was previously represented by J.P. Barry of CAA Sports. Bross works at the former Gaylord Sports, which is based in Scottsdale, Ariz. and was acquired by Lagardere earlier this year. Lagardere represents hundreds of athletes in multiple sports, but Doan is the firm’s first hockey player client (Liz Mullen, SportsBusiness Journal).

DOAN TO WAIT ON DECISION: In Phoenix, Sarah McLellan reports Doan will not sign with a team until July 9 at the earliest because he thinks he will have "more insight into whether" prospective Coyotes Owner Greg Jamison "will purchase the team and keep it in Arizona." July 9 is when the city of Glendale "says signatures are due for the possible referendum on Jamison's lease agreement." Bross has been "contacted by eight teams interested in Doan, but Doan isn't entertaining offers until he has more information regarding the Coyotes." Bross: "He's really not testing the waters. He has no desire to leave the Coyotes" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 7/2). Doan has spent his entire 16-year career with the Coyotes franchise (THE DAILY).
