TCU Football Season Tickets Sold Out For First Time In School History

TCU yesterday sold out its allotted football season tickets for the first time in school history, "an astonishing feat when you consider the Horned Frogs had a little more than 13,000 season ticket holders three seasons ago," according to Stefan Stevenson of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. TCU surpassed 30,000 season-ticket holders for the '12 season, and "sold out its general admission seating." In addition to the school moving to the Big 12 Conference beginning with the '12-13 school year, "a perfect storm" of on-field success and the $164M renovations to Amon G. Carter Stadium "has excitement at a fever pitch surrounding TCU football." Fans are "putting their money where their excitement is." There are still about 1,000 fans "on the waiting list for season tickets" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 5/16). ESPN.com's Jeff Caplan noted it is "the third consecutive season that TCU has set a new season-ticket mark," with 22,500 sold in '11 and 19,143 in '10 (ESPN.com, 5/16).
