The Warriors promoted Dir of Basketball Operations KIRK LACOB to Assistant GM. Lacob, the son of Warriors co-Owner JOE LACOB, had also served as GM of the Dakota Wizards, the Warriors' D-League affiliate. The promotion is "unlikely to change the working dynamic within the Warriors' front office." Kirk Lacob has "had a voice in the decision-making of the franchise and that will continue." It is "unknown exactly where the younger Lacob fits on the Warriors' hierarchy, but there is no doubt he is among the top four decision-makers," which includes Joe Lacob, GM BOB MYERS and Exec BOD member JERRY WEST (Matt Steinmetz, CSNBAYAREA.com, 5/14).

HORSIN' AROUND: Breeders' Cup Senior VP/Sales CARTER CARNEGIE has left the company after 10 years. Breeders' Cup officials indicated that they will "begin the search for a replacement for Carnegie in the coming weeks." Breeders' Cup VP/Corporate Partnerships HEATHER HIGGINS "will oversee sales and sponsorship duties" in the interim (BLOODHORSE.com, 5/14)....NYRA has named KENNETH HANDAL acting General Counsel and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer. Handal most recently served as Guidepost Solutions LLC President of Governance, Risk & Compliance (NYRA).

EXECS: Gannett named LARRY KRAMER USA Today Publisher & President. Kramer, the founder of MarketWatch and former CBS Digital Media President, will oversee the USA Today newspaper and its Sports Media Group, among other properties (THEWRAP.com, 5/14)....Tennis Channel named GARY LANG VP/Production. He will report to Senior VP/Production and Coordinating Producer BOB WHYLEY. Lang worked for Fox Sports from '94-'08, including time as VP/Special Projects (Tennis Channel)....CBS Sports Network hired Sportsman Channel VP/Programming & Productions GREG TRAGER as VP/Programming (THE DAILY)....Fuse GM DAVID CLARK has taken on the new title of Exec VP/Integrated Sales & Partnerships for MSG Media, which includes Fuse, MSG and MSG Plus (N.Y. POST, 5/15)....Stewart Management & Partners named KATIE MARSTON Exec Dir of Brand Development and JERRY MANUEL Exec Dir of Marketing to help in the off-field marketing efforts of Dodgers CF MATT KEMP and P CHAD BILLINGSLEY. Marston previously served as Global Dir of Brand Communications for adidas and Ashworth Golf, while Manuel previously was CSMG Dir of Player Marketing (Stewart Management & Partners).
