CFL Announces It Will Unveil Redesigned Reebok Jerseys For All Eight Teams This Spring

The CFL announced yesterday that it "plans to unveil redesigned jerseys for all eight teams this spring, hoping a new line of products will boost already strong merchandise sales," according to Morgan Campbell of the TORONTO STAR. Over the past five years, the league’s merchandise revenue "has tripled, and the league thinks still more sales are available if the fans fall in love with the yet-to-be revealed line of Reebok jerseys and apparel." The uniform makeover is "part of a broader marketing effort the CFL will undertake" as it marks the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup. The league "plans to roll out its new products team by team in early May, with redesigned apparel on the market well before the June 3 start of training camp." The Toronto Argonauts yesterday announced that they "would unveil their new-look uniforms at a viewing party" May 1. The CFL is the "latest league to attempt to benefit from the uptick in merchandising revenue that accompanies a uniform overhaul." Nike is "expected to gross" $750M in sales of its new NFL gear (TORONTO STAR, 4/12).
