New NFL Jets President Neil Glat Becomes First Person To Hold Position Since '07

New NFL Jets President Neil Glat is the first person to hold the position "since Jay Cross left" in '07, and will "begin his new job early next month," according to Roderick Boone of NEWSDAY. Jets Owner Woody Johnson said in a statement, "There were a number of highly qualified candidates, and I appreciate all of the time and energy that each of them invested during this search process. However, Neil distinguished himself with his extensive NFL experience, business acumen, and leadership skills" (NEWSDAY, 4/12). In Newark, Jenny Vrentas notes Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum will "still report directly" to Johnson. In his previous position as NFL Senior VP/Corporate Development, Glat worked in "areas including business development and stadium development." He has a law degree from Harvard and studied economics at Univ. of Pennsylvania's Wharton School (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 4/12). The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Chris Herring noted while working for the NFL, Glat "garnered praise for his role in helping nearly two dozen teams solidify stadium plans" (WSJ.com, 4/11). ESPN N.Y.'s Rich Cimini noted Glat also was an "essential part of the successful expansion processes" for the Browns and Texans. Glat said, "The Jets have established a unique and innovative brand and are leaders in many areas. I look forward to building on this momentum and working with everyone in the organization" (ESPNNY.com, 4/11). The Jets used exec search firm Korn/Ferry Int'l to fill the position. Korn/Ferry Int'l Vice Chair Jed Hughes led the search. Glat is also a two-time SBJ/SBD "Forty Under 40" winner (THE DAILY).
