Liverpool To Play AS Roma At Fenway Park As Part Of North American Tour

Fenway Sports Management has completed a long-anticipated deal to bring sister operation EPL club Liverpool FC to Fenway Park to play a July 25 exhibition against Serie A club AS Roma. Other games are slated to be announced in the coming days as part of a larger North American tour arranged and managed by FSM. An American tour for Liverpool, including an obvious Boston stop, has been a key priority for FSM since the company's high-profile acquisition of the team in '10. "It's interesting. Handling everything for the tour sort of puts on a different side of the table than what we usually do, but this is very exciting," said FSM co-Managing Dir Billy Hogan. The North American tour includes a presenting sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered Bank, Liverpool's kit sponsor. Fenway Park last hosted soccer in '10 with an exhibition between Scottish club Celtic FC and Sporting of Portugal. FSM was aided by CAA in constructing the North American tour. Liverpool will use Boston as its home base during the tour, and train at Harvard Univ. Red Sox investor Thomas DiBenedetto and Celtics investor James Pallotta purchased AS Roma last year.
