Knicks, Rangers Raising Season-Ticket Prices For '12-13 Season

MSG yesterday announced that Knicks season-ticket prices for the '12-13 season will increase an average of 4.9%, while the Rangers will see an average increase of 9.5%. The company said that price increases are primarily focused on upper bowl seats, reflecting the new amenities and improved sightlines that are part of the second phase of arena renovations. Season-ticket holders will be relocated to new seats after the renovations. The second phase will also include the addition of 58 new suites (MSG). On Long Island, Neil Best notes the upper deck sections will be "re-numbered and have different price structures next season" (NEWSDAY, 3/6). In New Jersey, Andrew Gross notes there will be 23 price options for Rangers season tickets, and 22 for the Knicks (Bergen RECORD, 3/6). Gross writes, "Surely, prices will rise again" in '13-14 after the third phase of the renovation (Bergen RECORD, 3/6). In N.Y., Frank Isola notes some "might try to attribute the latest spike" in season-ticket prices to the emergence of Knicks G Jeremy Lin. But with Lin "under contract only through the end of this season and no guarantee he will be with the Knicks when the increase takes effect, it’s tough to pin the move on Lin-flation" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 3/6).
