"MNF" Will Feature A Two-Man Booth Next Year, As Jaworski Moves To The Studio

ESPN's "MNF" is moving to a two-man booth next season with Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden. Ron Jaworski is moving into the studio and will appear on shows like "Sunday NFL Countdown," "Monday Night Countdown" and "NFL Matchup." Jaworski, who has been with ESPN since '90, signed a five-year extension that will keep him on the net through '16. As part of the deal, Jaworski will do NFL-themed "SportsCenter Special" shows. "With two strong analysts in Ron and Jon, these moves will better utilize their strengths and benefit our entire NFL presentation," ESPN President John Skipper said via a press release (John Ourand, THE DAILY). FoxSportsOhio.com's Pat McManamon on his Twitter feed wrote of the move, "This is supposed to be an improvement? Freelance writer Kyle Stack wrote, "I'm gonna watch Monday Night Football on mute next season w/ Jaws out of there. Gruden doesn't make many substantial points." The AP's Dave Goldberg wrote, "With Jaws going to the studio & Gruden the only 'analyst,' players in MNF games will be ranked on a scale of 9 to 10." BostonGlobe.com's Sean Leahy wrote, "Horrible move by @ESPN, cutting Ron Jaworski from @MNF_on_ESPN. He was most likable guy on there. Tirico and Gruden will not win many fans." Bleacher Report's Dan Levy wrote, "Writing up my thoughts on the Jaworski-Gruden situation. I don't think @bhofheimer_espn is gonna love me today."
