JEFF POMEROY has left Turner Sports to set up his own boutique PR shop based in Atlanta. Pomeroy had been with Turner for 12 years, where he was Senior Dir of PR. Pomeroy's new company, JDP Communications, has signed several clients already, including A&M Holding Group, Sadekar World Golf, All-American Games and Kenny Smith Entertainment Group (John Ourand, THE DAILY)....CONCACAF yesterday promoted Deputy General Secretary TED HOWARD to acting General Secretary after CHUCK BLAZER resigned from the position. Howard serves on FIFA's referees and stadium-security committees. Blazer will remain on FIFA's exec committee (AFP, 1/2)....The Univ. of Portland named KAREN PETERS interim AD. Peters has served as Senior Associate AD and Senior Woman Administrator at the university for the last three years. Peters replaces LARRY WILLIAMS, who accepted a position as VP & AD at Marquette Univ. on Dec. 5 (Portland OREGONIAN, 1/3)....Williams F1 co-Founder PATRICK HEAD stepped down from the team's BOD. Head will continue working with the team's hybrid technology department (AP, 12/31)....Joe Gibbs Racing hired JEREMY TROIANO as a PR rep for JOEY LOGANO and JGR's No. 20 Home Depot/Dollar General Sprint Cup Series team. JGR has also hired MAGGIE MARTIN as a PR rep for BRIAN SCOTT and JGR's No. 11 Dollar General Nationwide Series team (JGR)....The NLL Minnesota Swarm hired PAUL HUTCHENS as Account Exec. Hutchens was formerly a Season Ticket Sales Exec with the Vikings (THE DAILY).
