Gameday Merchandise Signs Five-Year Deal With Hockey Canada

Gameday Merchandising has signed a five-year deal with Hockey Canada to sell merchandise at all of its amateur hockey events in Canada through '16. The agreement covers the International Ice Hockey Federation world junior and women’s world championships and Canada’s national age group competitions. Gameday’s first event is the IIHF World Junior Championship Dec. 26-Jan. 5 at two NHL arenas, the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary and Rexall Place in Edmonton. In addition to operating the team stores at those arenas, Gameday is working with Nike, the event’s retail apparel supplier, to develop a fully-branded, 60-foot-long trailer as a walk-in store outside Rexall Place. Hockey Canada, a nonprofit group, is the governing body for hockey in Canada with a membership of more than 700,000 players coaches and officials. “The Hockey Canada brand is the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys brand of this country, it’s an icon,” said Gameday Exec VP Jeff Newman.
