In N.Y., Claire Atkinson notes N.Y. fans "may lose out on Knicks games if Madison Square Garden's MSG Network and Time Warner Cable can't work out a new deal." Their contract "expires at midnight on Jan. 1." The last time the two "locked horns, in 2005, MSG went dark for two months." A source said that the two are "far apart on a deal, with MSG looking for a per-subscriber increase of a couple of dollars" (N.Y. POST, 12/15).

EXTENDED COVERAGE: The Chiefs yesterday announced a revised and extended agreement with KCTV-CBS that will see the station continue to air their preseason games and broadcast additional Chiefs programs, while production of the Chiefs preseason games will move in-house. The team's in-house production staff will produce the Hy-Vee Chiefs Insider show, the new Chiefs Kingdom show and preseason games starting in '12 (Chiefs).

FREE-AGENT ACQUISITION: GrindMedia has acquired Baseball America and baseballamerica.com. Baseball America, which has been published since '82, and its associated titles will be added to GrindMedia's portfolio. Baseball America joins SLAM Magazine in the company's stable of stick-and-ball properties (THE DAILY). The staff "will remain in the magazine's Durham, North Carolina-based offices." Baseball America produces 26 issues annually in print and digital, and "has an average circulation of 32,300" (FOLIOMAG.com, 12/14).

ON-FIELD BATTLE: In N.Y., Richard Sandomir notes footage from nine video cameras stationed at FedExField during last Saturday's Army-Navy football game will "form a major part of a new documentary, 'A Game of Honor,'" scheduled to air on Showtime on Dec. 21 at 10pm ET. The two-hour documentary, which is narrated by actor Gary Sinise, "follows several players, some seniors heading into their last game, and some of their first days at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and the Untied States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md." Co-producer Pete Radovich said, "The biggest challenge is juggling the story lines. The challenge is to keep it at two hours" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/15).
