Tebow's Success Boosting Merchandise Sales In Florida, Nationally

Jacksonville-based Fanatics.com VP/Business Development Brian Swallow said that his company has seen an increase in Broncos QB Tim Tebow sales nationally of "more than 50 percent in the past two weeks," according to Roger Bull of the FLORIDA TIMES-UNION. Swallow said that Jaguars sales are "down less than 15 percent locally and nationally," while Gators sales "have been flat." Jacksonville-based Sports Mania GM Terry Trinidad said that sales of gear for the Jaguars and Gators, "which make 80 percent of his shirt and hat sales," both have been down "about 20 percent." Trinidad said Tebow's jersey "picked up as soon as they announced him as a starter against Miami," and "they've increased with each win." Trinidad: "I've probably sold a dozen since Sunday." Bull noted Tebow's "orange No. 15 was the fastest-selling jersey in the NFL when he arrived as a rookie last year" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 12/1). The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Paul Bond writes under the header, "Tim Tebow Effect: How A Phenom Cashes In." Tebow can "command about $500,000 annually from sponsorship deals," and Premier Partnerships Managing Dir Jeff Marks said that bonuses "tied to wins, playoffs and a Super Bowl berth could drive each past $1 million" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 12/9 issue).
