Univ. Of Cincinnati Reports Losses Of Over $1M In Sponsorship From Stadium Deal

Univ. of Cincinnati officials yesterday said that the school “has lost $1.04 million in sponsorship dollars for its two home games at Paul Brown Stadium this year because of conflicts” with Bengals sponsors, according to Cliff Peale of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. UC has a contract with Skyline Chili, while the Bengals are sponsored by Gold Star Chili, meaning Skyline signs "and other ads couldn’t be shown in the stadium during the games against Louisville and West Virginia.” Pizza “also was a conflict because of the competition between UC sponsor Donatos and Bengals sponsor LaRosa’s.” PNC Bank, “which is working with UC this year, also did not get signs during the games.” School officials said that ticket revenue from the two games “will allow it to recoup some of the lost income and that it’s altered the contract with its vendor, IMG College, to allow it to recoup more revenue.” UC still “isn’t sure whether it made money on the two games, which drew nearly 90,000 fans combined after it moved the games from the 35,000-seat Nippert Stadium” (CINCINNATI.com, 11/15).
