Delaware North Sportservice Reports Record $12M In Food, Retail Sales For World Series

Delaware North Sportservice reported a record $12M in gross food and retail sales for the seven World Series games at Busch Stadium and Rangers Ballpark, according to Sportservice President Rick Abramson. The concessionaire’s per caps reached a high-water mark of $50 for Games Six and Seven in St. Louis and as high as $30 for the three games in Arlington, where the Rangers run their own merchandise operation. Over the weekend in St. Louis, Sportservice generated $1M in sales tied to team store sales and food stands set up for Sunday’s championship parade. The numbers in St. Louis are substantially higher than the average food and retail per cap of $41 during the ‘06 World Series, the last time Sportservice had two clients competing for MLB’s championship. The Cardinals beat the Tigers five years ago in that matchup. All told, Sportservice generated $36M in food and merchandise sales for 28 MLB playoff games, including the ALCS and NLCS. The Buffalo firm also runs food and retail at Comerica Park in Detroit and Miller Park in Milwaukee. “In all my 40-plus years in baseball, I have never been to a more exciting game in my life than Game Six,” Abramson said. “It was the best baseball game I have ever seen.”
