CAA Sports Nearing A Deal To Acquire Jacksonville-Based MG Sports Marketing

CAA Sports is close to a deal to acquire MG Sports Marketing (MGSM), an agency led by partners Billy McGriff and Ben Gannett, according to sources close to the deal. Jacksonville-based MGSM is a leading golf sponsorship agency, and consults on the golf business for such clients as CDW, Farmers Insurance, Mitsubishi Electric, PwC, UBS and Zurich Financial Services. CAA has been looking to increase its presence in golf, and recently hired Pete Bevacqua, the former USGA Chief Business Officer, in addition to Greg Luckman, who previously served as CEO of GroupM Entertainment & Sports Partnerships, to help grow the agency’s efforts in golf and consulting. On the representation side, CAA Sports represents Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Greg Norman (THE DAILY).
