Mercedes-Benz has announced a deal with golfer Adam Scott to become an int'l golf brand ambassador. The deal will begin next January and will entail global TV and print advertising, PR and social media. Meanwhile, the car company has also signed top-ranked men's tennis player Novak Djokovic as an endorser in Serbia & Montenegro, Djokovic's home country (THE DAILY).

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT: The Bruins announced that Cross Insurance will be the team's first practice jersey sponsor. Bruins players debuted the new Cross Insurance patch on their practice gear during team media day yesterday at TD Garden. The insurance company also will have a visible presence at the Bruins' primary practice facility at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, Mass. (Bruins).

LOSING A SPONSOR: Turner Motorsports announced that Dollar General, the primary sponsor of the No. 32 NASCAR Nationwide Series entry driven by Reed Sorenson, "will not be returning at the end of the year.” Turner also announced that “the organization may scale back its efforts in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series.” YAHOO SPORTS’ Nick Bromberg reported the team notified its employees yesterday “of potential layoffs at season’s end” (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 10/4). ESPN's Terry Blount said the “good news is Dollar General is staying in the sport, they’re just moving to another team” ("NASCAR Now," ESPN2, 10/4). 

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Massachusetts-based Kayem Foods “will not only have its dogs, sausages and deli meats served at all the EverBank Field concessions, it now has the rights to use the logo and declare itself the official Jaguars dog.” Kayem Foods Senior Brand Manager said that “he couldn’t say exactly how much Kayem paid for those rights, only that it was six figures over the length of the multi-year deal” (JACKSONVILLE.com, 10/4)....The NHL Kings yesterday announced a multiyear partnership with Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut will receive in-stadium signage, online exposure as well as being named the Presenting Sponsor of the Kings pregame show for all radio broadcasts (Kings).

SHARK BAIT: GOLF.com’s David Dusek wrote Tharanco Lifestyles LLC, corporate parent of Greg Norman golf clothing, reached an agreement Monday “to acquire Dunning Golf, the apparel brand founded by Ralph Dunning.” Dunning will "maintain a partnership in the new company and continue to design the collection" (GOLF.com, 10/3).
